Miller Lite Brings the Retro Funk with 70s-themed Hotels.com Lake House Collab
A clink o’ the ole beer can to the folks at Miller Lite.
The brand that doubled-down on its roots a few years back, continues to lean into the nostalgic vibe with gusto. This time it’s a clever and creative collab with Hotels.com. At its simplest, the two brands teamed up to create a 70s-styled Timeshare in the form of a real-life Michigan Lake house that fans can book exclusively on Hotels.com.
As MLive accurately describes, it’s a Midwest pad “dripping with 70s decor” and pays homage to the 1975 birth year of Miller Lite. Its $96/night rate is a nod to Lite’s 96 calories. I like what the brands did in couching the whole initiative as a chance to “escape 2020.” A cheap and easy way to frame it and give a “reason for being.” It worked and played through in the coverage.
Overall, it’s a fun, lighthearted way to drive short-term PR and buzz…and maybe inspire one more Miller Lite 30-rack summer run. Of COURSE, the house itself quickly sold out, but the residual conversation, social sharing and earned media lives on. And, to be honest, they kind of earned it with decor and swag like this.
The Miller Timeshare sleeps eight and is (check that, was) available through September 30.
