Dos Equis 'Seis Foot Cooler': Cheap, Stunty and Smart
I’m not going to pretend it’s an effort of a higher order. It’s not a purpose-driven initiative created to inspire you to reconsider and re-evaluate questions of great consequence. The latest PR stunt from Dos Equis is just that…a quick stunt. That doesn’t mean it isn’t smart. TBH, it’s one of those “why didn’t anyone think of this earlier” kind of ideas.
Behold, the Seis Foot Cooler.
Mind-numbingly simple. The picture says it all. Launched Friday as we head deeper into summer and the desire to kick back a few cold ones rises as fast as the temperature. The seis-foot cooler is…you guessed it…six feet long and designed to allow friends to share a couple beers from a safe social distance.
It’s reminiscent of BK’s social distancing-inspired crowns and other similar quick-turn “experiential” branding efforts of late. It’s “cheap and easy,” which is why I like it. Throw in visual and tailor-made for social and it all equals a why not?
A toast to the Seis Cooler…and all 50 of them that likely existed in “limited edition” before “selling out.”
