IKEA UK Holiday Ad Brings It

IKEA. Holiday ad. UK. I’m thinking sappy. Sleepy. Maybe quirky, but probably irrelevant to “suburban dad” me.

I thought WRONG.

It’s got that winning formula, I tend to love.

First, there’s an insight somewhere in there that folks grabbed onto and leaned way in. Most of us are not always proud of the way our places look making hosting people something we might shy away from. Or something like that. Insight? Check.

They also zig where others zag. Instead of celebrating the homebody All-Stars, they shame the laggards. That stuff sticks out. Unexpected? Check.

Third, they use catchy, random rap lyrics. This one won’t join the annals for the Wendy’s We Beefin’ classic, but there’s a couple dope rhymes sprinkled in this home decor drop. Miscellaneous home item MCs? Check.

Nicely played, IKEA. Now, pardon me while I take stock of our throw pillows and welcome mats.

Nope, they’re on point.
